Hand made or machine made carpets and rugs

Hand made carpets and rugs have a very long history in different countries in the world but if we want to consider this item in Iran , Iranian families used to weave carpets and rugs and cushions all year long. Mothers made carpets for their sons and daughters few years before their marriage, but now things are completely different. 


These days , hand made carpets are very special antique item among all the people in the world but previously it was a different story. 

To consider the history of machine made carpets and hand made carpets, it should be mentioned that Iranian people have a long history over weaving the carpets in their houses. Iranian house wives took weaving carpets as a daily routine which was an art and a business at the same time.

Young children used to learn weaving carpets at early ages and then it was a task for them to help their mothers with weaving hand made carpets and rugs. Some families used to sell their carpets as soon as they were completed. Some families made carpets in order to trade it with some other necessary items for their daily life. In villages, it was common to have several carpets being woven by different family members.

Children were supposed to weave a certain amount daily and they were allowed to play when they had done their share of weaving.
